The Special Collections and University Archives Department of Iowa State University Library is located in Parks Library in the City of Ames.  Created in 1969, the department’s mission is to collect, preserve, and share documentation of the experiences, achievements, and memories of people and organizations reflecting the university’s major research areas, with a special commitment to documenting the history of the university. Supporting the land-grant ideals of putting science, technology and human creativity to work, we strive to enrich learning and encourage investigation.

We currently aim to post twice a week. The CyPix series, published on Thursdays, is intended to be a short post, highlighting interesting images from our collections. On Tuesdays, we post a slightly longer post, telling stories from our collections, sharing information about newly processed collections, giving departmental updates, and from time to time giving a peak behind the archival boxes to what we do as archivists.

Please note that the opinions expressed in this blog’s posts are those of the individual authors, and do not represent the official position of Iowa State University or Iowa State University Library.
